• DIFFERENCES BETWEEN QUARTER OF A YEAR AND HALF OF A YEAR

There is a difference between 2nd Half (2/2) and 2nd Quarter (2/4), we should also avoid the mistake/error of perceiving 2nd Half as 2nd Quarter. We are going to give the major Differences between them below.

                    Quarter

    1. Quarter is made up of 4 divisions of Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 of a giving Year
    2. From First Quarter to Fourth Quarter, we have 3 – Months each
    3. For the First Quarter we have – January, February, March
    4. For the Second Quarter we have – April, May, June
    5. For the Third Quarter we have – July, August, September
    6. For the Fourth Quarter we have – October, November, December
    7. Quarterly Division of a Year
    8. First Quarter of the Year Q1 = 1st/4 (Quarter)
    9. Second Quarter of the Year Q2 = 2nd/4 (Quarter)
    10. Third Quarter of the Year Q3 = 3rd/4 (Quarter)
    11. Fourth Quarter of the Year Q4 = 4th/4 (Quarter)
    12. 1st/4 + 2nd/4 + 3rd/4 + 4th/4 (Quarter’s) makes a Full Year.

    Half

    1. Half is made up of 2 Divisions of H1 and H2
    2. From the First Half to the Second Half, we have 6 – Months each
    3. For the First Half, we have – January, February, March, April, May, June
    4. For the Second Half, we have – July, August, September, October, November, December
    5. Half Division of the Year
    6. First Half of the Year H1 = 1st/2 (Half)
    7. Second Half of the Year H2 = 2nd/2 (Half)
    8. We only enter into the second Half of the Year when we get to the month of July not June.
    9. 1st/2 + 2nd/2 (Half’s) makes a Full Year.
In conclusion the First and Second Quarter of the year have 91 days each while the Third and Fourth Quarter have 92 days each, on the other hand the First Half of the year have an estimate of 182 days while the Second Half of the Year have 184 days as well. Giving a 366-days period to make a year, this calculation will suffice as an educated guess.
